Place Your Bets...

This week's blog posting consists of two independent but somewhat related topics. The first being an open invitation to participate in the first ever, once in a life time, highly-anticipated, high-stakes Meloche Baby Pool. There are 14 days until Manuela' due date (March 10th). Participants are invited to pick the date which they believe Manuela will give birth to Meloche #2 and secure said date by recording it on this blog. Once a date has been chosen by a participant that date can not be chosen by another. The individual who correctly chooses the date upon which Manuela delivers will receive an undisclosed Grand Prize valued at an undisclosed monetary value!

**Participants are limited to one vote. Winning participant must claim prize by providing valid proof of identification at Meloche Headquarters in SWF no later then 3 hours after time of delivery. If no one claims the prize, the winnings will be used to purchase cigars and other celebratory items. Doctors, nurses and Midwives who are actively involved in the delivery are prohibited from participating.**

The second topic concerns the benefit of children. Friends and family members have always maintained, and rightfully so, what a blessing children are. They informed us of the joys of watching your little ones grow and develop. They have stated that children are the source of their delight and how they could not imagine their lives without children. Manuela and I agree with such sentiments, however, there is another benefit of having children which they have failed to mention which the above pics illustrate, namely....domestic servitude.

Repent and believe...

Tomorrow marks one of my favorite times of the year...lent, which of course is preceded by one of my favorite meals...pancakes! Wishing all a wonderful penitential 40 days of asceticism.
PS. Here are a few shots of Manuela with only 17 days until 'D-day'.

Brrrr!

We almost had a frost this morning. None of our topical fauna were damaged but Mila and Manuela were showing the early signs of hypothermia - namely, irritability and persistent complaining about the cold. Consequently, I was coerced, under threat of mutiny, to turn on our 30+ year-old furnace...something which I though I would never have to do in SWF. After a good hour of frustration, and with the help of my apprentice, I was final able to get the pilot to remain on and thus safe my entire family from freezing to death.

Yuk...Sand!

On Sunday, we loaded up the truck, and headed off to beautiful Ft. Myers beach for a day of sun, sand, and surf. Upon arriving, I with the help of Manuela, piled all of our beach 'necessities' upon my back and we we made our way down to the shore. Mila, however, refused to dip her precious little toes into the white sand and stubbornly remained on safe solid ground. I had to double back and carry her to the safe harbour of our outstretched blankets. She was completely content to remain there, free of sand. I had to forcible persuade her to stand in the sand, whereupon she began to scream like a howler monkey. The pics attached show her clinging to me to escape the evil sand...the horror, the horror!

the pink pj'ed plotter

things here in SWF are well. the weather is great. manuela is in fine form and preparing for the birth and mila is busy plotting her coo. every morning while 'the authorities' are eating breakfast she gathers her militia (viz., her hodgepodge group of stuffed animals, naked dolls, and 'little people') in the corner of the room and strategically plans the overthrow of the current tyrannical regime. she thinks that we can not understand the coded baby babble that she implores to convey her message of mayhem, but we are on to her. She shall not succeed, no matter how cunning and cute she is. Her chubby fist shall never rule this house!

Week 35

We're down to the wire folks. Manuela has 5 more weeks to go untill Mila meets her lil'bro - not that they haven't been formally introduced. In fact, of late, one of Mila's favorite past times is pounding on the 'ball' which is manuela's stomach.
