Playing Catch Up

I believe God has His ways of entertaining Himself.  Take, for example, Time.  It comes and goes and comes and goes again and we humans are always chasing after it, trying to catch up with it.  In many ways it isn't unlike a puppy whose master teases it by pretending to throw a fastball and the puppy turns around looking for it: "Where did it go?"  The master gets a kick out of it EVERY time.
Yes, I am convinced the key to a well-run home is good time management.  It only took me 36 years to figure it out. But, boy, once you get that and you're taking charge of the hours God grants you by filling it with useful and necessary tasks, then Time becomes a fast friend.
With that said, as I strive to get this clunking blog into a well-oiled and well-run machine I will have to carve out time more regularly to contribute to our wavering blog.  So, in the mean time, here I am, and here are some pictures from this years' All Saints Day party.  They're late.  Give me some time to catch up.
Can you guess who's who?  No? Okay, Simon is St. George ( see the little dragon hanging by his side?) Ezra is a spitting image of St. Dominic Savio, if I do say so myself, and Mila is St. Kateri.  I was actually St. Gianna Molla and Augustin was the baby she holds in her iconic pose but in all the hustle and bustle we forgot to take the picture.  He looked something like this:

I should probably include some pictures from Halloween as well.  I like this one:

Lalaloopsy

To kick start Mila's 8th birthday party I made "Sew Cute" Lalaloopsy  invitations.
I was so pleased with the way they turned out I snapped a picture of them.

I used store-bought Starbucks cappuccino bottles to get the
sweet effect of old world milk-bottle jars.

Truth be told, Richard handcrafted the oversized number "8",
 all I did was weave the ribbon through;
and all Mila did was stand by and look cute!

Sugar love.

I made "Cute as a Button" cookies to add to the Laloopsy theme.

This Button Banner has to be one of my favorite decorations, it just screamed
Lalaloopsy!
 I took pink paper plates and glued white paper circles on them;
then I tied old remnant strips in between, it was adorable!

Making our own Laloopsy paper dolls with remnants and ribbon and yarn... "sew fun!"

The day after her birthday, we took our girl to get her ears pierced.
She is hiding her fear very well...

Ta-daaaa!

Thanks to my Nonno and Nonna for my new ride!

Aarrgh...Who Turned Five?

So we had a pirate themed party for our little Cap'n. Cap'n Nobeard and his crew were true swashbucklers on the high seas. They searched for a lost treasure, divied the bounty and made Simon walk the plank! We had facepainting and storytime with Barnacle Bart a.k.a the Clipper ( a pirate puppet who joined in for some fun) and learned how to speak 'pirate' like 'down the hatch!' Cap'n Nobeard had a fine time with his mateys, his hearties and his treasure...aargh!

Simon's Monster Birthday

So here we are 2 years and 32 lbs later. The kids were so excited they would take any book or toy they could find around the house and wrap it up to give it to Simon. Of course, then they wanted to unwrap the gifts as well. Too funny.

Happy Birthday Simon!

Life in the fast lane

Here are some random shots in the life of the Meloche clan, when I say 'random' I mean in no chronological order whatsoever. Time goes by so fast I am amazed we have time to take pictures of anything at all.
These are a few of us at Conner's A-MAIZE-ing Acres in October, don't ask me what day.

I made some Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttercream frosting in honor of Our Lady on the Feast of Her Immaculate Conception December 8.

Here we are picking out a Christmas tree. Simon wears that cowboy hat almost everywhere, he fits right in with the folks here.

Simon giving Mila a ride on our visit to Grandma and Grandpa Ernie's place.

Our Thanksgiving feast. Delicious.

Here we are camping in the middle of November. We went with some friends of ours and a good time was had by all.

Dressed up for the All Saint's Party. Mila as Mary and Ezra as Joseph and Simon was too cute to not be in the picture.

Mama Bear and Papa Bear cookin' up breakfast while camping...scrambled eggs and bacon mmmm....

The Shaving of Aslan

"Stop!" said the witch. "Let him first be shaved."

...an ogre with a pair of shears came forward and squatted down by Aslan's great head. Snip, snip, snip went the shears and masses of curling gold began to fall to the ground...You could see the face of Aslan looking all small and different without his mane...

"Why, he's only a great cat after all!"... "Is that what we were afraid of?"

Sweet and Six

Birthday cake.

Birthday girl with brother.

Birthday girl opening gifts...Mommy can't wait to play this particular one with you :)

Fun family photo. (Notice Simon sporting Mimi's brand new boots)

Well...our 'little' girl has turned six. Sad but true. She is quite pleased with herself about the whole matter despite our best efforts to stop time. She did have a very happy little birthday replete with balloons, homemade birthday cake, presents, good food and family.

Thanks Zia Laura for coming to visit us.

For dinner we had homemade mac and cheese with spinach...we didn't want our dearheart to be completely spoiled, birthday or no).

A splendid time was had by all. May God bless you Mimi.
